Functional Training Perspectives Group are at the forefront of qualified exercise physiologists. In response to the Federal Government’s initiative to include exercise physiologists in the Medicare Scheme, we can now extend and provide our services, mainly exercise therapy to the wider community through Medicare.

As exercise physiologists we’re not only abreast of the current clinical evidence supporting the use of exercise as an adjunct to other therapies in the management of chronic conditions; but are best placed to prescribe, monitor and evaluate exercise interventions for the client.Once we have established the most effective way to help manage the client, an exercise program is formulated and we work hand in hand with their treating GP and/or practice nurse.Adherence and motivation are critical factors in the long-term success of any lifestyle modification. Here we endeavour to create innovative programs that encourage positive attitudes toward a lifetime commitment to exercise and physical activity.

WHY EXERCISE THERAPY?
The appropriate amount of Exercise Therapy during lifestyle modification or rehabilitation from injury, will influence how quickly a person can improve their Health,
Wellbeing and Muscle Strength.International Research* has shown that sedentary living is a stand-alone risk factor for a wide?variety of preventable?illnesses and injuries,
including most forms or cardiovascular disease, obesity/diabetes/metabolic problems, Syndrome X, many cancers, some forms of arthritis and osteoporosis,
among others. Many studies have shown exercise to be an effective “Therapy” in both human and economic terms, and is a wonderful, positive adjunct to
medical management. Exercise also helps relieve stress, anxiety and depression thus can enhance mood. “We need to encourage All people to
include exercise in their lifestyles”.General Practitioners would use exercise services for their patients more often if it wasn’t for lack of time to design, implement and evaluate exercise programs. Programs such as “Life Script®” aim to assist General Practitioners by providing a basic referral framework; however Functional Training Perspectives Group have the people, and facilities to ENHANCE this in a COST-EFFECTIVE manner for both GPs and their patients.
